Sorrento, Victoria – Australia

0

Sorrento is in Victoria, Australia.  It’s a lovely place to visit all year round for the beaches, historic parts and they also have spectacular shopping for everyone!

How to Get There?

Sorrento is very easy to get to from Melbourne, it is only a 90-minute drive away and with new freeways and tollways being constructed it is getting easier and faster than ever to get there.  You can also catch a bus if you don’t want to do the driving.  It will add an extra 15-20 minutes onto your journey, but there are buses every 45 minutes (or every 75 minutes on the weekends).  For the latest bus timetables, head over to metlinkmelbourne.com.au so you’re not caught out.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

It’s a very comfortable temperate all year round, but the coolest temperatures are through the winter periods in Australia which are from May until August.  Anything outside of those times will be nice!

What is there to do there?

Sorrento Village has a shopping centre to cater for everyone.  There are also some historic sites to visit for those looking to learn a little bit while on holiday.  Of course, the main reason most people go is for the beautiful beaches!  There is a specific surfing beach as well so for those who love their water sports can definitely get their feet wet! (sorry for the bad pun…)

The Blyde River Canyon – Mpumalanga

0

The Blyde River Canyon is situated in Mpumalanga nature reserve and is north of the town of Graskop. It is naturally carved out of red sandstone for 2.5km.  It is also the third largest canyon in the world.  There is a LOT of flora in the reserve to check out as well, in fact more than 1000 different species alone!  There are also a few waterfalls in the area that you must check out!

How to Get There?

Blyde River Canyon is along the Panorama Route and is very accessible from the west side of Kruger National Park and towns of Nelspruit and Sabie via bus which is very cheap.  Ask your hotel for deals on group tours as well as they may offer a better experience with a tour guide for a deal!

When is the Best Time to Visit?

It is a fantastic place to visit year-round, however if you want to abseil if you are more adventurous, you will want to go in winter which is from June until August.

What is there to do there?

As said above, for the more adventurous there is abseiling, but if that’s not for you there are many other things to do! Hiking is a must, you can go swimming, great photography opportunities at some of the best lookout points such as ‘God’s Window’, ‘Three Rondawels’ and ‘The Pinnacle’.

Juizhaigou Valley – China

0

The Jiuzhaigou Valley means the ‘Nine Village Valley’ for the fact it has nine villages in it, but only 7 of them are still occupied today.  It is classed as a world heritage site by the UNESCO to preserve this beautiful area.  It is located on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau and is now a popular destination for people to view because of its beauty.

How to Get There?

Unfortunately, it is quite hard to get to and most people take a long bus ride of several hours from Chengdu via the Min River Canyon.  While it is troublesome to get to, the views as you can see are well worth the trip!

We do have some good news though, in recent years (although more expensive) you can fly to Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport on the mountainside and catch a 90-minute bus ride instead.  If you can afford it, we recommend this route!

When is the Best Time to Visit?

We would advise never going during rainy season, due the fact that this can extend the journey to and from the area by many hours due to mud slides.  We would highly recommend going between June and September as only 20% of the yearly rainfall happens between these months.  The temperature can get up to around 17°C in July, so don’t expect the weather to be too hot.

What is there to do there?

This one is for the more adventurous of travellers.  You will need to be able to hike quite a bit as you won’t see many of the views otherwise.  You will see lots of lakes, mountains, including the Sacred Zha Yi Zha Ga Mountain which is stunning.  You may also see some of the local Benbo Buddhists around the area as well.

Kuramathi Island Resort – Maldives

0

Kuramathi Island Resort is located in Rasdhoo Atoll, which is a small group of only 5 islands.  They offer an all-inclusive package to make your holiday as relaxing as possible with very little to spend once you get there! The stunning views which we come to expect from the Maldives will have you wanting to keep going back again and again.

How to Get There

The Resort is 56km from the airport and all the transfers are done by the resort via seaplane.  You get an incredible birds eye view of the whole area before arrival.  It’s just a spectacular sight which gives you Goosebumps before your holiday has even started.

Best Times to Visit

The Maldives is sunny all year round so there isn’t really a bad time to go.  Great to fit around your plans!

Things to Do

What you would expect from any resort in the Maldives, you can relax as much as you want and take in the views and sunshine!  They also offer snorkelling lessons for you to take and provide all equipment. All the rooms in the resort offer wi-fi access, in-room safes and televisions (I wouldn’t spend much time inside watching T.V though, great though if you bring children and they’re demanding it!)

They offer a renewal of vows ceremony so this would be a great place for a special anniversary, as well as any other reason you would want to go to a hot, sunny, tropical climate!

Phi Phi Islands – Thailand

1795716_791835240844341_1078441730_n

The Phi Phi Islands are between the island of Phuket and between the coast of Strait of Malacca on the mainland of Thailand. The islands became famous when used as a location of a film in the year 2000 called ‘The Beach’. One of the islands called Ko Phi Phi was hit by the tsunami in 2004 however this has all been restored now and is a great location to see.

How to Get There?

The islands are reachable via speedboats or other tour boats from most of the famous piers in Phuket. This is generally very cheap and is well worth a tour of them to see what Thailand has to offer! You can reach Phuket directly via their airport from most major airports.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

The best time to go is in the dry, hot season which is between January and April where the temperature ranges from between 20-35°C. Avoid January and July as these are the wettest times, but the other months may offer you many potential chances for a cancellation holiday!

What is there to do there?

As with most beach resort type places there are a few things you can do that involve bright sunshine! You can go scuba diving and snorkelling in their fine, clear waters! There are many tour groups on the mainland that offer these classes and you can go even if you are a complete beginner. The islands are also loaded with great beaches and there are many other water sports activities, including kite surfing. If you’re after views we would definitely recommend going on one of the boat tours as you will see some amazing sights!

Paradise Island – Maldives

Paradise Island in the Maldives is a five start resort and its local name is Lankanfinolhu. There is plenty here for a nice relaxing cancellation holiday. There are restaurants located on the island and many other things to do, plus the view is something to behold in itself

How to Get There?

You will need to go from the main Maldives airport, which is called Male’s Hulhule and is an island of it’s own. From there the resort will sort you out a transfer to the island which is usually via a seaplane. Great adventure to start your getaway with that’s for sure

When is the Best Time to Visit?

The best time to visit will be something between May and October, you may experience some rain during your stay, but the prices are a LOT more reasonable for these times of year and with a cancellation holiday you’ll be able to grab yourself a right bargain! The rain clears up quickly and becomes bright sunshine soon after so it won’t spoil your holiday.

What is there to do there?

Anything you could expect from a luxury beach or island resort, there is scuba diving for the most adventurous people or perhaps surfing if you’re feeling energetic. Don’t worry, there are beginners welcome all the time at these places. If you just want to relax, well you’re on your own little island, so you can eat, drink and sunbathe all day long without any interruptions!

The Great Barrier Reef – Australia

0

diving_experience-cairns_great_barrier_reef

The Great Barrier Reef is off the coast of Australia in the Coral Sea and is the world’s largest coral reef structure. It is amongst 900 islands and spams an area over 1400 miles. It is so large that it can be seen from outer space and is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. It is a great destination for tourists and because of its popularity you often find cancellation holidays which can include package trips to and near the Great Barrier Reef.

How to Get There?

There are a lot of boat tours and cruises offered from towns all across the coastal areas. They vary from single day trips to longer tours where you can stay on a superyacht for a couple of nights! The main place people go from is Cairns, this is because of its location and the amount of things there is to do in Cairns as well once you’ve seen the Great Barrier Reef.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

The best time to visit is in April or May, there are a couple of reasons for this. It is between peak and low season so it is much quieter, but the temperature is still high, between 25°C-30°C. There is very little rainfall and the waters are very clear for the best view possible!

What is there to do there?

As we said before, there are daily boat tours which can give you a great view of the area (and there is a lot to see!). We advise not going for the cheapest as you’ll be travelling in a dinghy. The more expensive ones you get really nice boats with lunch/dinner included in the price and have a much more relaxing experience. If you’re more of an adventurer then there are also scuba diving tours available. These will be on the expensive side, but you get to see the Great Barrier Reef in the best possible way!

This is an amazing hotel in Adelboden with stunning panoramic views of the Swiss Alps. It is a perfect retreat to go to for either the people looking for a cozy hotel in the alps and also skiers alike also love this place!

How to Get There?

It is a 45 minute drive from Bern and an hour and a half from Geneva, you can also get trains to here from a lot of major countries around Europe including, France, Italy and Germany

When is the Best Time to Visit?

It depends on what you want from your visit. If you’re looking for skiing, you want to go during the usual winter months. But if you want the nicer weather look to go earlier in the year. It should be noted though that peak months are July and August and will be very busy around this time (and more expensive).

What is there to do there?

There is a lot to do! Like we said above, during the winter months there is skiing and snowboarding, but other times of the year you can go cycling, hiking and there is also a golf course nearby. The hotel itself offers a spa, swimming pool, fitness center, games room and much more.
